The Route: Rome to Praiano

Leave Rome via the A1 Autostrada del Sole heading south. After approximately 2 hours, merge onto the A3 motorway toward Salerno. Exit at Castellammare di Stabia and climb the Sorrento Peninsula via Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi. The coast road SS163 takes you east past Positano. Praiano is about 10 minutes past Positano. The total distance is approximately 300 km.

Optional Stop: Pompeii

The Pompeii archaeological site is right off the A3 motorway. A highlights visit takes 1-2 hours. Your driver waits in the car park while you explore. This makes your Rome to Praiano journey more than just a transfer — it becomes the first experience of your Amalfi Coast holiday.

Praiano: Your Amalfi Coast Base

Praiano is quieter than Positano, with authentic restaurants, boutique hotels, and stunning sunset views over Capri. It is the starting point of the famous Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) hiking trail. From Praiano, Positano is just 10 minutes and Amalfi is 20 minutes by car — a perfect central location for exploring the entire coast.
