Positano is one of the most beautiful and most visited destinations in Italy, but it is also one of the hardest to reach independently. There is no train station in Positano. Public buses from Sorrento are overcrowded in summer. Driving yourself means navigating the narrow Amalfi Coast road and dealing with extremely limited (and expensive) parking. The town itself is built on a steep cliff with hundreds of steps between the road and most accommodations.

That is why our Positano transfer services exist. We provide private car transfers to and from Positano covering every major route — from Naples Airport, Naples city, Sorrento, Rome, and all Amalfi Coast towns. Your professional driver picks you up at your exact location, handles all luggage, and takes you directly to Positano (or from Positano to your next destination). No connections, no stairs with suitcases, no parking problems.

Getting to Positano: What You Need to Know

Why Positano Needs a Transfer Service

Unlike most Italian towns, Positano does not have a train station. The nearest station is in Sorrento, 40 minutes away by car. Public buses (SITA) run along the coast road but are notoriously crowded in peak season, have very limited luggage space, and drop you at the main road — often far from your accommodation.

Positano is built on a steep cliff face, with many hotels and apartments connected by pedestrian paths and steps rather than roads. Arriving by car with a knowledgeable local driver is by far the most practical option, as the driver knows exactly where to stop for each accommodation.

From Naples Airport to Positano

The most common Positano transfer route is from Naples Capodichino Airport. The drive takes about 75 minutes via the A3 motorway and the Amalfi Coast road. Your driver meets you at the Arrivals hall and handles everything from there. Read more about Naples Airport to Positano transfers.

From Naples to Positano

Whether you are at the Naples train station, cruise port, or a city hotel, we provide private transfers to Positano in 75-85 minutes. This is much easier than combining the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento with a SITA bus to Positano (3+ hours with luggage). Read more about Naples to Positano transfers.

From Sorrento to Positano

The short 40-minute drive from Sorrento to Positano follows the legendary SS163 coast road. It is one of the most scenic short drives in the world, with dramatic cliffs and sea views. Read more about Sorrento to Positano transfers.

From Rome to Positano

A direct private transfer from Rome to Positano takes about 3 hours via the A1 motorway. Many guests add a stop at Pompeii on the way. This is a popular alternative to taking the train from Rome to Naples and then a separate transfer to Positano. Read more about Rome to Positano transfers.

From Positano Back to Naples

When your stay ends, we provide return transfers from Positano to Naples Airport, train station, or cruise port. For airport transfers, we recommend leaving 3 hours before your flight. Read more about Positano to Naples transfers.

All our prices are per vehicle, not per person. A couple pays the same as a solo traveler in an E-Class. A family of 6 pays the same as a group of 4 in a V-Class. This makes our Positano transfer services very cost-effective, especially for groups.

Yes, many guests book both the arrival transfer to Positano and the return transfer from Positano. Booking both at once ensures you have reliable transport for your entire stay. Each direction is priced separately.

Yes, popular stops include Pompeii (on the route from Naples, 2 hours), Herculaneum, Sorrento (for shopping), or scenic viewpoints along the Amalfi Coast road. Just mention your preferences when booking.

A private transfer is the most comfortable and practical way to reach Positano. The town has no train station, limited bus service, very difficult parking, and is built on a steep cliff. A private car drops you as close to your accommodation as road access allows, and the driver helps with your luggage.
