Amalfi Coast Day Tour
Private full-day excursion along the most beautiful coastline in the world. Visit Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and hidden gems with your own driver.
The SS163 Amalfitana — the Amalfi Coast road — is one of the most spectacular drives in the world. Carved into sheer cliffs hundreds of metres above the Tyrrhenian Sea, it winds through tunnels, past waterfalls, and around hairpin bends that reveal one jaw-dropping view after another. With a private driver, you don't have to worry about navigating the narrow road or finding parking. You simply sit back, take in the scenery, and stop wherever you want.
Our Amalfi Coast day tour takes you to the most beautiful villages along the coast — Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and more — at your own pace. Your English-speaking driver picks you up at your hotel in Sorrento, Naples, or anywhere on the coast, and creates a day tailored entirely to your interests. Whether you want to explore historic churches, shop for local crafts, photograph the views, or simply enjoy long lunches overlooking the sea, this is your day.

Typical Amalfi Coast Itinerary
Morning: Positano
Your driver picks you up at your hotel between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. The first stop is Positano, the iconic cliff village with its pastel-coloured houses tumbling down to a pebble beach. Spend about 1.5 hours exploring the narrow pedestrian streets lined with boutiques selling handmade sandals, linen clothing, and ceramics. Walk down to the Spiaggia Grande beach, visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with its famous majolica dome, and soak in the atmosphere of this unforgettable village.
Late Morning: Praiano
Continuing along the coast, your driver stops at Praiano — a quieter village between Positano and Amalfi known for its stunning sunset views and the trailhead of the famous Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods). Even a brief stop here offers some of the most dramatic panoramic views on the entire coast.
Midday: Amalfi
Arrive in Amalfi, the historic maritime republic that gives the coast its name. Spend about 1.5 hours exploring the magnificent Cathedral of Sant'Andrea with its striking Arab-Norman architecture and ornate cloister. Wander the piazza, browse the paper mills that have produced handmade paper since the 13th century, and enjoy a lemon granita or espresso at a café overlooking the harbour.
Lunch
Your driver recommends a restaurant with a panoramic sea view — perhaps perched on a cliff terrace between Amalfi and Ravello, or tucked into a quiet square in one of the villages. Enjoy fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and local wines while the Mediterranean stretches out below you.
Afternoon: Ravello
Drive up from Amalfi to Ravello, the hilltop town that has inspired writers, musicians, and artists for centuries. Visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo, famous for their spectacular terraces overlooking the coast. Explore Villa Cimbrone and its Terrace of Infinity — described by Gore Vidal as the most beautiful view in the world. Allow about 1.5 hours for Ravello.
Return
Your driver takes you back along the coast road with additional photo stops at the most scenic viewpoints. Arrive at your hotel by 5:00 to 6:00 PM, full of memories from one of the world's great drives.
The Villages of the Amalfi Coast
Positano
The most photographed village on the coast, Positano is a cascade of pink, yellow, and terracotta houses clinging to a near-vertical cliff. Known for its boutique shopping (handmade sandals, linen fashion), its beautiful beach, and its vibrant restaurant scene, Positano is the quintessential Amalfi Coast experience.
Amalfi
Once a powerful maritime republic rivalling Pisa and Venice, Amalfi is rich in history and architecture. The 9th-century Cathedral dominates the main piazza, while the narrow streets hide ancient paper mills, hidden courtyards, and excellent restaurants. The town is also the starting point for hikes into the Valle delle Ferriere nature reserve.
Ravello
Set 350 metres above the sea, Ravello is a haven of gardens, music, and art. The Villa Rufolo gardens host the famous Ravello Festival concerts in summer, while Villa Cimbrone's Terrace of Infinity offers a view that stretches to the horizon. Ravello has attracted visitors from Wagner to Virginia Woolf to Gore Vidal, who made it his home.
Praiano
Quieter and more authentic than its famous neighbours, Praiano is beloved for its dramatic sunsets, its access to the Sentiero degli Dei hiking trail, and its peaceful atmosphere. It offers some of the best viewpoints on the entire coast without the crowds of Positano or Amalfi.
Optional Additions
Vietri sul Mare — the gateway to the Amalfi Coast, famous for its hand-painted ceramics. Browse the workshops and factory outlets for colourful plates, tiles, and decorative pieces. Atrani — the smallest municipality in southern Italy, just a 5-minute walk from Amalfi. A tiny, unspoiled fishing village with a beautiful piazza by the sea.
